Rumor: Doctor Strange 3 in early development- but it doesn't make much sense now

1000498036.jpg

Nexus Point isn't exactly the most reliable source for MCU scoops, but they sound pretty confident about this one. The MCU's plans beyond Secret Wars are anyone's guess, but there's, allegedly, a solid spot secured for Strange, and Benedict Cumberbatch is apparently playing a major role.
After Cumberbatch's character practically launched the Multiverse saga, the character has been sidelined, and Doctor Strange isn't even in Avengers: Doomsday. I don't understand why they would bring him back when everything is over. Maybe he will come in Secret Wars and play a role in the repairing of reality afterward. However, I still don't understand why the MCU would greenlight another Doctor Strange film this early

So Eddie Murphy, of all people, couldn't take a joke!

Turns out Murphy never went back to SNL for all those years because they made a joke about his failing career.
" Catch a falling star" sure was messed up, but then, as an alum, Murphy had every right to call it out and let it go, not avoid the program for years and keep a grudge over it.
I understand him, because I wouldn't laugh at someone's career failing either, but I still think he went too far on this one. It is just comedy, sometimes it is funny and sometimes it isn't, but the point of it all is that there is no ill motive and we can always see past a bad joke. Murphy really doesn't get my vote on this one though!

Jumanji is finally ending and it feels right!

According to Dwayne Johnson, Jumanji 4 will be the last film in the franchise. I actually feel this decision is two films late. Jumanji 3 was already a patchwork with jokes that didn't land and a story that struggled to fit into the rest of the franchise. Jumanji 4 now feels more like a money minting project rather than a fun film, squeezing the state of California into funding 35% of an overbloated budget for a franchise way past its sell-by date. I guess I'll still watch the film out of curiosity, but I'm not expecting much.

Adele will make her movie debut in an upcoming Tom Ford film

1000497103.jpg
This feels long overdue really. One of the most famous faces and voices in the industry is finally appearing in a film. The film will be Tom Ford's first since a decade-long break and features a star-studded cast led by Nicholas Hoult and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. It is an adaptation of Anne Rice's Cry to Heaven, so it looks like Adele's debut will be quite emotional.
Honestly, this has all the writing of class over it, and I can't wait to see what Tom Ford does with such a rich array of talent in a single film.

Smallville's Allison Mack still blames co-star Kristen Kreuk for introducing her to Keith Raniere's sex cult NXIVM

1000497105.jpg

I still feel sorry for Mack after her ordeal. However, I feel it is high time she took some responsibility for her own actions. I mean, she was over 25 years old at the time, for God's sake. In her first podcast after she left prison, she said it was Kristen Kreuk who led her to the cult after they both felt unsatisfied" with their lives during a break while living in NYC.
Apparently, Kreuk told her “It’s the science of joy. It’s the most amazing thing. It’s made everything so much better in life. You’ve got to do this,”

However, Mack stayed even after she knew what Raniere was doing to his victims, and whatever she went to prison for knowing fully well what the cult was about, and that, sure as day, wasn't Kristin Kreuk's fault.

Morgan Freeman is suing the unauthorized creators of AI clones of his voice

1000497102.jpg

Freeman has been doing quite a lot of talking on his media tour for Now You See Me. NOW You Don't. He is reprising his role as Thadeus in the film. When asked about the viral AI actress Tilly Norwood, Freeman said, "People don't like her because she is not a person and has no place in acting. Unions have a job of keeping actors acting."
On his own experience with AI, especially sprawling clones of his voice, Freeman said, “I'm a little pissed off... don’t mimic me with falseness. I don’t appreciate it and I get paid for doing stuff like that, so if you’re gonna do it without me, you're robbing me”
He further said that his lawyers have already filed cases against some of the people behind the clones.

Alien: Earth renewed for season 2 in what is the biggest win for original sci-fi in 2025

1000496291.jpg
When I first heard that Noah Hawley was doing a show based on Alien, I thought it would be all dark and more horror than sci-fi, but I have to admit, that show is great. Setting it in an alternate timeline from the film offers all the creative room that has resulted in deep-rooted characters being daveloped, especially Wendy. I'm not the biggest fan of FX's recent excursions with original stories, but I think this one more than deserved a renewal. I hope they won't drag it beyond relevance though!

Frankenstein is breaking Netflix!

1000496293.jpg
I love it when the good guys win and this feels a lot like one of those moments. So, Frankenstein is averaging 10 million views a day on Netflix, hitting 30 million in three days to dwarf other films in the charts including A House of Dynamite (which I absolutely dislike).
I'd still prefer that more people watch the film on the big screen to feel the impact of true art up close. The film is living proof that passion, creativity, and talent still rule the entertainment industry.

Absolute Aquaman is definitely coming!

I have enjoyed every character in DC Comics' Absolute series so far, especially Wonder Woman. Bringing Diana back as the princess forged by the fires of hell itself gives the character a strong background. Absolute Batman and Superman are also better, despite feeling darker.
According to Kelly Thompson, the trident wouldn't have been included in Absolute WW if Absolute Aquaman wasn't coming. We now have a chance to see the most badass version of the character, then just picture Jason Momoa in the role.

Oscar Isaac says he won't return to Star Wars until Disney "proves that it won't succumb to fascism"

1000496294.jpg
The fallout from Jimmy Kimmel's dismissal was always going to affect Disney, but I only imagined subscribers would be the only ones affected. However, Oscar Isaac's latest comments suggest that every franchise under Disney could be affected.
Oscar Isaac has now said he wouldn't return to Star Wars if Disney doesn't get their house in order, and it only feels right. This doesn't mean any particular franchise is in danger, but it sure is a loud warning to Disney.

Should actors stop lending their voices and images to AI companies?

Veteran actor Michael Caine has joined a long list of actors who have provided voices to AI companies for on-demand use. In Caine's case, he has made a deal with Eleven Labs and has made a strong case for this decision. However, it is these very voices that are then used to train AI actors like the widely condemned Tilly Norwood created by Particle 6.
During the SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023, AI replacing actors was a major concern that is yet to be resolved.. However, with the very actors who are striking against AI providing voices and imagery to AI companies, it seems they are shooting themselves in the foot. So, is it time for actors to shun AI companies?

Josh Brolin says Joe Russo may already have approached him to return as Thanos!

1000495420.jpg

Knives Out is probably this year's most star-studded film, but none of them has been as impressive in the interviews as Josh Brolin. He was full of praise for everyone in the cast except himself. He then gave MCU fans a reason to smile when asked about his return as Thanos.
He is apparently open to the return and may already be working with the Russo brothers in some capacity to that effect. I'm actually impressed because the MCU is yet to come up with a villain as formidable as Thanos!

Christy: Sydney Sweeney gives the bravest reaction yet to her movie flopping

1000495421.jpg
I haven't watched the movie personally, but I have seen some of the reviews and they are absolutely scathing. Most people allude to a lack of passion and zero connection between the film's display and real-world boxing. The film has already recored worrying numbers, opening to an average $600 per theatre domestically with just $1.3 million across 2000 theatres.
When asked about it, Sweeney said, “If Christy gave even one woman the courage to take her first step toward safety, then we will have succeeded. so yes I'm proud. Why? Because we don't always just make art for numbers, we make it for impact. and Christy has been the most impactful project of my life”

Paramount+ set for a price increase, but this one actually makes sense!

Recently, everyone was angry with Disney when they announced price hikes from $79.99 to $159.99 for some subscribers because they hadn't added the content to justify the increase. Paramount+ seems to be eyeing Disney's disgruntled customers because they are also making a price increase, but theirs is by $1 a month for both the ad-supported and ad-free tiers.
David Ellisson has said that full access to UFC games is the main justification for the increase, and I actually understand, because they paid $7.7 billion for it. This minor increase is unlikely to make Paramount+ profitable, but they have already seen a 25% increase in subscriptions which is a step in the right direction.

Now You See Me Now You Don't might have just won the popcorn bucket war in 2025

I mean, a movie about magicians that has a popcorn bucket that can make your popcorn "disappear!" Just how impressive is that? I personally wasn't that interested in the movie, but I might buy a ticket just to add this bucket to my collection. This is next-level creativity that I believe theatregoers deserve in a time when movies are available digitally almost immediately after release, giving little incentive to go to the theater.

Otlander Season 8 premiere date set, but has it overstayed its welcome?)

1000495418.webp
Outlander Season 8 is set to premiere on March 6, and I'd love to see how this love story that defied time finally ends. However, the hype around the show seems to be gone, as no one seems to be struggling to see the trailers anymore —so has the show actually overstayed its welcome?
I remember the theme song and the stones forming memes back in the early seasons. I personally love Claire's story so much more than Jaime's, and sadly it is ending, but I hope the show gets a befitting conclusion.

Weapons creator working on a Gladys prequel!

1000494633.jpg
Clowns are now the go-to villains of horror films it seems. I actually loved Amy Madigan's delivery of Gladys. If you haven't watched it, Madigan plays some deranged witch that uses spells on children to maintain her youth, having kidnapped 17 kids from the same elementary school class for that purpose in Weapons. Apparently, she was so committed to the character that she wouldn't let a stuntwoman run for her on set, you know, that horrific final scene where the kids chase down Gladys and tear her into pieces.
The film's creator, Zach Cregger is now working on a sequel centered on Gladys, possibly exploring her origins and the root of her becoming evil, you know, just like Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein. I think Weapons was a huge win for Indies in 2025 and I would definitely watch this prequel.

Can Pluribus get as big as Breaking Bad?

1000494634.jpg
Login to view embedded media Vince Gilligan says he wants Pluribus to run for at least 4 seasons, or as long as Rhea Seehorn stays on it. I just finished watching the first 2 episodes and I have to admit, the show feels like returning to New Mexico for the post-apocalyptic version of Breaking Bad. Now, I don't think it is as big as Breaking Bad. Not for now at least. However, Apple TV is already working on a second season and if it remains as intense as the first one, then the discussion could be very different in a year!

So Fantastic Four: First Steps got a whole new score at the last minute!

Login to view embedded media Michael Giacchino has told Deadline that there is a whole other version of F4: First Steps that fans will probably never see. Apparently, he saw the final cut and decided to write a whole new score for it despite having made another one when filming began. I personally have no problem with the score, I think the music was serviceable. What failed F4: First Steps is the script. Every character feels cartoonish with mixed-up qualities rather than the MCU's traditionally meticulously written characters. The story also seems to have been written for Dr. Doom and not with the fans in mind. The film really has nothing uniquely special that would make a fan remember it an hour after watching in my opinion!

Is James Gunn's Superman the best superhero film of 2025?

1000494631.jpg

A Forbes article has put out some shining numbers on James Gunn's Superman, including claims that it has made over $100 million in profit, going on to 150 by the end of the year. Now, I haven't verified these numbers, but I do agree that the MCU was a failure this year. Their biggest release, Fantastic Four: First Steps hardly feels like an MCU film.
I still have an issue with the article claiming that publications that Say Superman didn't make a profit are out to influence the buyer's decision of Superman! We had data on the film's budget, and from whatever is known publicly, there is no indication that the film made a $150 million profit at the box office. That doesn't mean the film is a failure, it can be great and still unprofitable!

So Tom Brady loved his dog "so much that he cloned it," but then. When does love for pets cross over into abuse of science

1000494410.jpg
Colossal Biosciences made headlines recently after using their DNA cloning technology to bring back extinct direwolves, which was great. However, they are now extending cloning services to pet owners. I do understand the pain of losing your pet, but I remember when I got my first pet, the store owner told me that the pain of losing them is part of the love you shared when they lived, and the best form of love you can show them is by accepting their fate when it is the animal's time to go.
Tom Brady is the first client of Colossal Biosciences, it seems, since he made arrangements for a clone of his former dog to be created prior to her death. He is also an investor in the company, so he must have enjoyed an early-bird discount because the whole thing sounds super-expensive. Either way, I wanna hear from you guys, is this love or a perversion of science?

Should The Batman Part 2 tie into the DCU somehow at this point?

WB CEO David Zaslav has laid out the company's plans for the DCU, and it seems Batman Part 2 is the next big thing from DC. Zaslav announced the film will start filming next Spring, but won't be released until October 2027. The sad part is, the film will still be released ahead of Man of Tomorrow. James Gunn's DCU is also unlikely to have received a new Batman by then, hence my question: Is it time to simply embrace Batverse as part of the DCU?
As things stand, Robert Pattinson is one of the best-written Batman characters we have seen in a while, not to mention the popularity of Collin Farrell's The Penguin. Surely it serves no purpose to write a whole new Batman at this point!

Guillermo del Toro wouldn't even use a VFX ship in Frankenstein!

Thorough, stubborn, meticulous are all words to describe Guillermo del Toro at this point. The ship is not such a major part of the film, so, a detail most directors would leave to VFX and let go, but not the world's most hands-on director.
He believed that doing so would affect al the principles he held going into filming as the ship is a character in the film and all his characters have to be created by humans!
Frankenstein is therefore fully made by humans. A true masterpiece of taditional film making, something we just don't get to see anymore in modern cinema.
