It might take some time, but Alita 2 is coming, and 3 is not off the table!

Alita Battle Angel.jpg

According to James Cameron, Alita has never left his mind despite his busy schedule. “Robert Rodriguez and I have sworn a blood oath to do at least one more Alita movie. In fact, we’re thinking of an architecture that bridges to a third film, but we’ll be satisfied if we can make one more. And we’re making progress on that,” he told Empire Online.
With Avatar: Fire and Ash almost done, I'd be thrilled if Cameron picked up Alita once again because it was such a great film, and I don't think the first film explores nearly enough of that universe.

What do you think about Dr. Fate appearing in Man of Tomorrow?

Doctor Fate.jpg
Pierce Brosnan gave the character a lot of importance in Black Adam, although his dedication wasn't enough to save the 2022 film. Besides, Snyder's DCEU was largely short of new ideas at that point, so the writing wasn't great either. Brosnan has said he is open to playing the role again, and while he hasn't confirmed that he is the one playing, he confirmed that he was told the character would appear in the next Superman film, which is likely Man of Tomorrow. It is not exactly groundbreaking news, but if Brainiac is the big bad in the film, then I totally understand why Fate could be such a strong weapon for the good guys. I'm not so sure about this one, though, because Gunn doesn't seem so keen on pulling DCEU characters into his universe.

Disney's "Austin and Ally" Alum Calum Worthy creates the most controversial AI app ever!

So, Calum Worthy's genius idea is an app that lets people speak to avatars of their dead loved ones. I gotta say, the idea isn't very popular as everyone is bashing it in the comments section. The app is being launched through his AI company, 2wai, which has been condemned for having glitchy apps in the past. The video itself is creepy, starting with a pregnant mother speaking to a hologram of a dead granny who is later seen speaking to a 10-year-old boy. Like, who wants to open their phone to ask their dead grandparents for advice about their day!

This is another instance of a celebrity with a platform using AI to promote an insanely depraved idea. I don't think it is any different from the Tilly Norwood saga, really. Surely AI can be used to create more important tools than this.

Rosamund Pike blames the cancellation of Wheel of Time on the "churn factor," and she could be right

wheeloftimebudget.jpg
When Wheel of Time was first announced, I actually believed it had the potential to compete with Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings. Robert Jordan's WOT World isn't just bigger than LOTR; it is vast, deep, and extremely detailed. There was actually enough room to run the show for up to 10 seasons, add prequels and sequels, and a lot more. Unfortunately, the show failed to pick up in the first season, and that was pretty much the beginning of its end. The show picked up in the second and third season, but while reviews improved, viewership numbers just didn't keep up, and there was no way Prime Video was gonna continue funding it. It was supposed to be the streamer's flagship show, but it just didn't gain enough popularity.
I still hope it can find another home, but I don't see that happening because you need a studio with really deep pockets to hire a team that can execute something this big. Rosamund Pik,e however, bellieves that the show failed because of our cancel culture, which didn't give it enough time.

“The fans said season 1 wasn't good enough, which I think I agree with, for multiple reasons. We were beset by COVID in the middle of our shooting. We had some heads of department change. Then, by season 2, we knew what we were doing, and we offered up a much better season. By season 3, I think we had our wings fully spread, and we were showing where we were capable of going, and there was a really well-acted, well-written, cohesive, deep show that was attracting powerhouse actors to come and play supporting characters. I think we showed what we were capable of doing with that material. Of course, you wonder, had we started off at that place, would we not have been canceled? Maybe. I think we're possibly victims to the terrible churn factor of people wanting to show that ‘We've got a new show.’ It's all about what's new,” She told Collider while on the tour of Now You See Me, Now You Don't.

Why did it take this long for Tom Cruise to win an Oscar?

Tom Cruise finally got an honorary Oscar at the Governor's Awards 2025, and while it feels deserved, it doesn't even feel sufficient. In any list of dedicated actors that more than deserve an Oscar, Tom Cruise gets in every every 99 times out of 100, so it is baffling how it has taken this long for him to bag an honorary one.
The whole room seems to have felt the same as they gave him a near two-minute-long standing ovation before his speech. He said making movies is not what he does, it is who he is, and surely, I couldn't agree more. Congratulations to him.

After the year we've had, I wouldn't be shocked if Wicked For Good bags multiple awards at the Oscars!

1000499620.png
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are set for a record number of Oscar Nominations after Wicked for Good and I think they deserve ì this time around. The two have become the new faces of the World of Oz, and I think Wicked for Good will be the best Hollywood film of 2025.

Rainn Wilson believes Justin Baldoni was "set up," in the Blake Lively saga

The Office's Rainn Wilson expressed support for Baldoni in texts, praising him for not apologizing quickly and encouraging him to do a story about the whole thing. I personally feel sorry for Baldoni because Lively and Reynolds are Hollywood's darlings and he just didn't stand a chance in this battle.
Also, being sidelined from the premiere of your own film while someone else uses it to market themselves and make money is so hurtful. Now, I don't know the extent of Baldoni's involvement in Lively's alleged harrassment, but I think Lively and Reynolds totally milked the fallout for all it was worth.

I'm not for kicking a man when he is down, but then, Guillermo Del Toro's comments about the Weinstein brothers are pretty scathing!

I actually didn't think Harvey Weinstein's public image could get any worse, but that is exactly what Del Toro's latest comments on the brothers have done. According to Del Toro, dealing with the brothers on his 1997 film Mimic was worse than having to rescue his father from kidnappers in Guadalajara, Mexico. His comments have left me wondering about just how bad the Weinsteins could have been.

An Interesting Scoop here for why Doctor Doom is in the MCU in Avengers Doomsday!

MytimetoShineHello is one of the most reliable sources when it comes to the MCU, so I won't be surprised if this one is also true. However, it is a weak angle for an Avengers film revenge plot for me. I'm still waiting for a Thanos-level villain, and a faceless Doctor Doom looking to kill Steve Rogers because of some accident just doesn't cut it for me.
I'm really worried that Avengers Doomsday will be a huge disappointment, but I'm still hopeful. I hope there is more to Doom's mission when the film is finally released.

How will The Punisher fit into Spider-Man Brand New Day's PG-13 environment?

1000499619.jpg
Login to view embedded media The Punisher is one of the most exciting characters in Brand New Day for me, but I'm worried about the impact of the film's PG-13 rating. I understand Jon Bernthal insists on the unleashed version of the character, and even left Daredevil: Born Again in the beginning for that reason.
PG-13 means he'll be very reserved, so minimal violence and even less cursing, which practically means a less interesting version of The Punisher. I understand they will make it work somehow, but are we really going to love him in this one?

I'm not exactly thrilled about Black Panther 3

1000499391.jpg
Ryan Coogler has confirmed that his next movie is Black Panther 3, and I knew it was coming. Most importantly, Denzel Washington has a role in the film, so I'm guessing lots of stars and another explosive fight as enemies take advantage of T'Challa's absence, so everyone must save Wakanda from extinction, right? Simple as that summary sounds, it is exactly what we are likely to get because cracks already started showing in Black Panther 2 which turned into a nostalgia rant with little substance. I hope Coogler gives himself ample time to write a film that can really make that franchise competitive in the MCU once again.

Is Landman Season 2 at risk of becoming more of a family story rather than a tale about Oil and America?

1000499274.jpg
So, Billy Bob Thornton and the rest of the Landman cast have been speaking ahead of the show's Season 2 Premiere, and while I'm excited about the show itself, I'm worried about the direction it is taking. Everyone is talking about how Tommy and Angela's family is the central theme. Don't get me wrong, I love Tommy's family and how it directs the story, but I think Landman should always be a story about Texas oil and America just like Boomtown, the podcast on which the show is based.
Taylor Sheridan made the mistake of deviating too far from the main storyline in some seasons of Yellowstone, and I really hope they don't make the same mistake here. I want to see every character stay relevant and the brutal reality of the impact of fracking in the Permian basin on display, not a soap opera!

Now You See Me Now You Don't is the latest AI-Free Success Story!

After Guillermo Del Toro, Ruben Fleischer is now showing other directors that you don't need AI to make a great film. Now You See Me Now You Don't is already having one of the biggest opening weekends of the year. The director might just have made that even better by confirming that the magic tricks in the film didn't use AI, insisting on a real human connection to every scene that matters in the film. I think the industry needs more such filmmakers.

Nick Fuentes seems to be the only winner in this Dasha Nekrasova story and it is sad

1000499272.png
So, the latest scandal in NYC involves the Succession actor Dasha Nekrasova being fired by her talent agent and from a film she had just won a spot in, over a month-old podcast with far-right activist Nick Fuentes. She played Comfrey Pellits in Succession, one of Kendall Roy's PR managers, and had a good 9-episode run.
She hosted Fuentes on her Red Scare podcast back in October, but the real consequences appeared a month later, after the podcast hit over 200k views on YouTube. She is quite talented, and was on the path to greater heights in the industry had she just stayed away from controversy. In the podcast, Fuentes said his usual extreme white supremacist and antisemitic stuff, and Nekraova is totally responsible for her actions too, . Still, now he is getting all the blame while Fuentes gains more publicity for his depraved beliefs, which is just disappointing.

The next stage of Daredevil sounds interesting!

New Daredevil.jpg

Matt Murdock is a law professor by day and still Daredevil by night, but now he is taking on a new villain in Hell's Kitchen known as Omen. Stephanie Phillips and Lee Garbett will write this next stage of Daredevil, and while details are scanty, I think it sounds perfect, especially for an MCU setting. I also hope they adopt the no-nonsense Daredevil that doesn't shy away from killing the bad guys whenever necessary. I'm also looking forward to Daredevil teaming up with She-Hulk on this one.

Can Sony turn Labubu into the next Barbie?

Labubu.JPG

After the success of Barbie, I knew another toy brand would be selling film rights to a big studio soon and Labubu is more than capable of turning into the next Barbie. So, Sony has bought the rights through their Kpop Demon Hunters Brand, and while they will likely start with an animation film on this one, a live-action version could also happen. My concern is that they might blow it by trying to copy Barbie instead of creating something new and unique. I can't wait to see what they make with this one though!

The Hunt for Ben Solo movement takes the war to Disney Headquarters, but is it really worth it?

1000498649.jpg

Adam Driver's interview with AP in October left Star Wars fans angry when he revealed that Disney's Bob Iger and Alan Bergman turned down a script for The Hunt for Ben Solo even after Lucasfilm had approved it. The backlash has become so loud that an online movement has now been born. In the latest stunt, a plane flew over the Disney HQ parking lot with a banner saying Save The Hunt for Ben Solo. This follows a fan protest outside Disney NY offices and a Times Square billboard message with the same demand.
However, loud as it may get, the final decision to green-light a film lies with Disney, and as much as I don't like how the executives often stifle creativity with their decisions, I really wouldn't advocate for a world in which fan stunts determine which film gets made and which one doesn't. I also don't see the Disney hierarchy caving on this one, although it would have been great to seè that film come to life.

Another 24 Spinoff in Development and Kiefer Sutherland is coming back to "end the story,"

1000498650.jpg
Howard Gordon has written "another idea" for the 24 series and guess who is coming back! Same old Kiefer Sutherland. That's right. He recently told a podcast that the story was left wide open and he can't wait to give it a proper ending. I just don't understand why studios don't learn. This series had a chance at revival with 24 Legacy, but it backfired horribly.
After 6 24-hour seasons, I wonder what is so new about Jack Bauer that fans are really dying to see. Come to think of it, Howard's new ideas after he moved on from 24, including Homeland, Accused, etc, have worked great, so why go back to a show that clearly ended its run?

Should Peter Dinklage have stayed away from the Poker Face saga?

1000498646.jpg
So, in case you haven't heard, Peacock cancelled Poker Face after just two seasons. However, the creators, Natasha Lyonne and Rian Johnson, won't let the show die, so they are shopping it around to try and find it a new home for another 2 seasons. Now, lI'm not saying the show is trash, but then, last time li checked, canceled shows rarely hit new highs, even on a new platform.
Now, the problem is that thateter Dinklage signed up for the show just before its cancellation. He was to pllay lChlarles Cale, Natasha Lyonnel's previous role, but now he has become the face of the saga. Dinklage is a legendary actor, to me, no one else pulls off what he did with Tyrion Lannister in GOT, and I'm sure he can now name his price for any show or film. My question now is, why on earth did he sign up for Poker Face? And was it really worth it?

Disney increases expenditure on content by $1 billion, but somehow, it won't get any better

1000498647.webp
After David Ellison announced an extra $1.5 billion for Paramount to spend on content, Disney has followed suit, increasing their budget for content from $23 billion to $24 billion for the next year.
While the enthusiasm is there, Disney isn't really investing more in the content that fans want to see. The majority of the boost is going to ESPN Sports.
Original content for ABC, Hulu, and Disney+ has been mentioned in passing, but they are not the priority, so don't expect an increase in the number of MCU films any time soon! For some reason, I really can't feel the impact of the $1 billion on content though!

Is Shogun already one of the greatest TV shows ever made?

1000498645.jpg
Login to view embedded media Shogun Season 2 will resume filming in Vancouver in January 2026, setting it up for release later in the year or early 2027. The best part is that the whole team is intact, with Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis both returning to lead the line. I believe the second season will put up the best display og Yoshi Toranaga's political masterplan, and I really can't wait to see Sanada bring it to life.
Meanwhile, if season 2 is as big a hit as the first season, does Shogun instantly become one of the greatest historical TV shows of all time? Currently, I can't think of an Asian TV show that gained such a big following in Western markets.

How do y'all feel about gaming on Disney+, at least that is where we are headed according to Bob Iger

Disney seems to be coming after YouTube, TikTok, and all the rest of them. According to Iger, the next stage of Disney's evolution will involve AI-powered gaming and user-generated content, which probably will be beyter than what Disney is producing lately. I don't know exactly what they have in mind, though, but I won't be surprised if they acquire a games developer or two in the coming days.
Disney will also allow user-generated content, so I think this means they will try to put YouTube and TikTok out of business. Feels like a total revolution is happening at the company, although I'd rather they stick to what they do best because gaming is a tough field to break into. Ask Microsoft!

Union actors are looking to tap into the riches of microdramas, but I think these types of films are hurting the industry

The popularity of microdramas is actually astonishing! Shoot a cheap film with a catchy story for $100, 000 then cut it into 1000 reels that clickbait viewers into paying to watch the whole story on an app. However, after the first payment, most users are disappointed because what was promised isn't what they get! Now, I understand, the soap-opera style microdramas have quite a fan base, but I don't think their money-making model is sustainable, and Union actors would be safer staying away from it, in my opinion.

Saudis enter the race for WB Discovery

I think I saw this coming at the back of my head. The Saudis don't just have the money, they also have the infrastructure to fund such a venture in the long term. The only problem is the political angle. A Saudi-owned WB would become a Saudi-state-owned arm of the media, something I'm sure the US isn't ready for.
I mean, even Trump is eager for Saudi investment, but I think this one is too close to home even for him. Either way, this would be a big win for WB shareholders because the Saudis will happily overpay, and even if they don't get it, share prices skyrocket and they still win!

Is James Gunn right to bring Brainiac into the DCU this early?

1000498040.jpg

So, rumors suggest that Man of Tomorrow is all about Brainiac. I'm actually scared of the character, especially after the creepy version of him was introduced recently in Absolute Universe. I'd say Brainiac is DC's ultimate villain, with zero empathy and pure evil. This, in my opinion is a universe-ending villain, not one to be introduced this early.
However, most sources now agree that Gunn's script for Man of Tomorrow has Lex Luthor and Superman teaming up to take on Brainiac. I see this probably dragging beyond a single film, but I still feel David Corenswet's Superman needs time to acclimate with the DCU fan base before saving the universe.
