My table and I spent a few months trying to find a space opera game for a story we wanted to tell. We've never played a space game before, and I researched a solid twenty different games before finally landing on Ironsworn: Starforged. This game is inspired by the Powered by the Apocalypse games, as well as FATE and Forged in the Dark.

What I love about the mechanics of this game is how well the main mechanics (particularly Progress Tracks) can apply to any kind of story telling. Highly recommend. I've not played the original Ironsworn game (same thing, but fantasy), but I'm sure it's just as good as well.
