The MCU might just have cracked the code for not showing Robert Downey Jr.'s face in Avengers: Doomsday

So this is not the most reliable of sources, but they seem to have a solid lead on this one. Turns out, RDJ's Doctor Doom has a body so badly damaged that he can't survive without his armor on, so RDJ will keep his mask all through the film. I really don't see how this will fit in with the character's comics version, but I think they just cracked the code to keeping RDJ's face off the screen, which avoids the mix-up of Tony Stark becoming Doom altogether, which is genius.
I still believe they should have auditioned for a whole new face to play Doom and reinvented Tony Stark in a new capacity if they were so eager to retain him. Going through two big Avengers films with a faceless villain sounds like a long shot for me. Doomsday and Secret Wars could flop because of this.

Yeah, I’m not totally sold on that either. Keeping RDJ masked might solve one problem, but it creates another. Doom’s whole impact comes from being his own distinct force, not just Iron Man in armor. I get why they’d want to keep him around, but it might’ve been cleaner to start fresh with a new face for Doom.
