So, Jagged Edge Productions is really leaning into the destroy your childhood vibe with Pinocchio: Unstrung. They’ve taken the innocent wooden boy story and decided, “Hey, what if we made it sadistic, bloody, and voiced by Robert Englund?”

I’m curious, does anyone else think this could actually be entertaining in a darkly clever way, or is it just exploiting nostalgia for shock value?

Honestly, it could go either way. On one hand, turning something as wholesome as Pinocchio into a horror story has some twisted potential if they actually put thought into it. On the other, it could just be another “creepy childhood thing” cash grab

Actually, after looking at the reviews of the horror film about Jesus, I have a more positive view of this one. It could prove successful. The thought of Pinocchio going dark still puts a bad taste in my mouth though

I actually just watched Pinocchio again recently and it's always interesting how all older Disney movies always have a layer of creepiness to them already for me. Like if I watch any recent movies I don't feel that way at all, but anything like Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Snow White sometimes I watch them and I'm a little surprised these are actually kids movies haha
