    Introduce Yourself

Got Anything On Pre-Order?

As a single male in the 18-45 demographic with no hope of escaping America's current economic enshitification, I collect A LOT of figures.

I'm sure I'm not alone, so fellow toy collectors, I wanna know what you've got coming down the pipeline!

I just had a bunch of pre-orders come in - Marvel Legends MvC series, the Evangelion and Hastune Miku Blockee models, and a 30 Minute Sister model kit - so my upcoming items are actually surprising scarce.

However, of note is the Square Enix FFVII Bring Arts Zack Fair (The last figure I need to complete the full set):

And perhaps the best little Miku figure ever made:

SO yeah, whatcha guys got on deck?!

You are absolutely not alone, “the world is burning so I buy plastic joy” is honestly a whole demographic at this point 😂

That FFVII Zack is a killer get, Bring Arts has been on a roll lately. I’m mostly in model kits and smaller figures right now to keep my shelves from collapsing, have a Kotobukiya Megaman X kit and a Nendoroid Power from Chainsaw Man on the way. After that I’m trying (keyword: trying) to not preorder anything for a while.

Do you buy with “completion” in mind or just whatever hits the brain dopamine button in the moment?

I try not to. I don’t want a house full of figures or statues that I eventually won’t care about. It took me a really long time to only buy things that really speak to me and what I feel like I can’t live without rather than what the coolest thing is currently available.

I also have a bunch of cats that pee on things out of spite. They just peed inside my computer, which is a whole thing. And have peed on my movies before. If they did that to brand new expensive figures I’d be livid.

The short answer is no, I don’t preorder anything.

Hahaha I hope to be the main representative for that demo!

Most of the time, it's just 'dopamine' hit. Sometimes there are lines where I -know- I'm getting in on the ground floor and can cheaply get the set (like the FFVII guys), but for things like, Kamen Rider or Dragon Ball, I really just buy what characters I like - Case in point, I have an Imperfect Cell figure, but only ONE Vegeta - and it's SS4 lol.

Ah, Power! I love her! Have you heard of this new model kit company Blokees? They're SUPER nice -AND- super cheap; I just bought their Miku and Evangelion ones.

Like all of this? $40!

Oh man, I totally hear that; when I was growing up, I had four-five cats at all times, and my god they would pee on EVERYTHING.

Luckily, that leaned me away from getting into the more 'decor' stuff - plushes, cushions, wearables, etc. - and so I'm an all-figure man (and paper/cardbaord for comics and TCGs, but that's another story).

But I also 100% hear you on the storage problem. I've always relegated my collectibles to my office, so I just have them in nice display cases and shelves, but I also know how FAST shit can just pile-up.

That said, anything cool you grabbed recently?

Ugh attaching an image here is trash. So I can’t show pictures.

I found a Match Makers Gotenks, a Solid Edge Works Cooler, a Piccolo from Dragon Ball Daima, and a Banpresto Godzilla Minus One at Ross over the past couple months.

I found an Ichibansho Golden Great Ape from GT and Ichibansho Heat Ray Version of Godzilla Minus One at Comicpalooza.

And at one of the toy shows we do we found a 20” by 38” Godzilla figure who is basically the closest thing I’ll have to a toddler running around here.

I think those are my major purchases from the past year or so.

I -HATE- the image uploading here! I really need to change the upload size limit. The only way I get around it is by downsizing them in Photoshop. ANNOYING.

Aside from that, anyway; DUDE! Those are ALL sick. They've been doing it for awhile, but it's still crazy that Ross sells anime toys now! What a world.

That Great Ape is SO SICK! It's like a foot tall. The APPROPRIATE Great Baby size. Ugh, so is the Minus One. I miss having the space to display big figures.

Also, forget a toddler; that's a way better investment! Do you keep that bad boy on the floor? I imagine you would.

I'm also imaginging that like, if I had it, I'd end up treating it like all my Asian relatives do their buddha and Jesus statues. Just make a shrine to it in the hallway hahaha.

That reminds me, I'm still trying to find a good excuse to pull the trigger on the S.H. Figuarts Vegeta Ape:

And the Shenron!

I have that figurarts Great Ape Vegeta too. Someone was selling it at a reduced price at a toy show because it was an open box and on display previously. I picked it up so fast. I’ve been wanting a few other pricey figures from that line too: Mecha Frieza, Ginyu, True Form Zarbon, and Turles to name a few. Some of them are trash like the Daima ones that look like a fetus swimming around in the box because they’re so small. Ugh

Toddler G is on the floor, yep. There’s a nook by our front door hallway he could fit on but it’s full of other figures lol. I have that nook, a spot above the fireplace, and a spare room I display figures. I may need to start getting rid of some to make room for others soon though.
