Guillermo Del Toro put a little note in the film's credits that says "this film was made by humans," which is now the film's biggest selling point. I don't care if it doesn't have the best effects, I'd give this film all the Oscars to send a message to the industry.
I haven't watched it yet, but early reviews point to a deep marriage between passion and creativity as we get to see the monster's side of the story for the first time ever.
Del Toro has made it clear that every bit of style was done by hand, including Frankenstein's claws and facial stitches. Honestly, I think this is what art should look like.
