AMA with Rippaverse's Andrew Rodriguez On 11/26 @ 1pm EST

11.) In the part of the trailer showing Trinity, she appears to be wearing a hero outfit, and the girl with glasses to the right of her is wearing a shirt that looks like the shirt from the suit of Black Bolt— ruler of Attilan in the MARVEL Universe. There's also a light-haired guy in a hoodie in the shot next to them. I wonder if this might mean that there's something Exceptional going on at the school that the three of them might know about?
That's an interesting read of the scene! That's actually one of Trinity's cheer outfits for that school year! You'll find out more about the other female student when you read Tryouts, but you haven't seen the last of her! As for whether or not there's anything Exceptional about North Florespark High, who's to say?

12.) You said that Blue Shift takes a lot of inspiration from shounen media. Does this mean that Zephyr has a list of running techniques for handling different enemies, and that he'll say their names aloud every time he uses them?
Hahaha. Yes, Zephyr will have names for techniques. Yes, I already have them written down. Yes, he will say them aloud at times. And absolutely yes, people will look at him crossly for it. I find calling out attacks in anime and manga hilariously fun, and oftentimes cool. But it's incredibly impractical, and would, in reality, annoy the people around you. And that's 100% the point .

14.) Being such a big fan of Chuck Dixon, have you used the fact that he writes for the Rippaverse to get some time asking him how he does what he does? If so, are there any nuggets of comicbook-writing knowledge he's given you that you could share?
Working at the Rippaverse has afforded me the absolute blessing and privilege of chatting face-to-face with Chuck Dixon. I've had the chance to pick his brain a number of times, and while I think fans should check out his Ask Chuck Dixon show on YouTube to glean wisdom directly from the source, I think the most important knowledge I've gained from him were in the realm of creating distinct character voices, such as when he was writing so many of the Bat-Family simultaneously and how he balanced that—something that I wanted to learn more about for not only Blue-Shift, but something else I have planned as well. Also picking his brain about fleshing out a world to make it feel lived in, whether it be logistical things about how a character's powers or gear function, or populating a city with diners, outfitters, gyms, and more. I hope that fans will see that I took his example to heart in my stories with Blue-Shift!

Also, I was wondering, will BlueShift be getting his supersuit from Cedric, the Tailor who made Isom HIS costume?

Probably, right? He's introduced as the Tailor for a bunch of heroes, but so far, Isom's the only one we've seen him with.

I also think it'd be cool if BlueShift were to be involved in Projexus and all the super-science they've got going on. Maybe Lincoln Eusbio becomes fascinated in BlueShift's abilities and wants to win him over so they can reverse-engineer his powers for medical-advancements and stuff, but Zephyr isn't sure how much he can trust Lincoln and Projexus. Lincoln Eusbio's another character I'm intrigued by and want to learn more about. He doesn't seem to be a hero or a villain, per se, but I can totally see him and Projexus BECOMING a force of evil at some point, due to their TransHumanist goals, and the fact that such ambitions almost always lead to Dystopias, and never Utopias.
I can neither confirm nor deny Cedric's involvement in Zephyr's Blue-Shift Super Suit. But it does look pretty official and professional, doesn't it? I will say that the Blue-Shift suit is definitely not his first one. I'm a Spider-Man fan, so we're gonna have some fun along the way to truly looking like a proper speedster superhero 😉.

Lincoln would very likely find Zephyr's abilities to be fascinating. Given that he's heavily researching transhumanism and extending human lifespans, I'd wager that he'd love to get his hands on an Except like Zeph. Maybe some Projexus tech finds its way onto him at some point, even? Things to ponder on, to be sure.

Is there anything fans can expect from the next wave of releases that you’re especially hyped about?
Oh, man, nothing that I can particularly discuss at the moment (NDAs and all). But there is one project in particular (and it's not mine, to be clear) that I am over the moon for, and I'm confident the fans will be too. Stay tuned!

What lessons from TV/film carry over most into comic development?
The Soskas may be able to answer that more thoroughly than I; however, given that I studied it, I can offer this nugget: on screen, you want character dialogue to feel organic, and like two characters are having a genuine back-and-forth, as opposed to it being like a Pokémon battle. There's a difference between interrupting someone in a conversation and feeling like you're tossing a ball downfield before the other one responds, if that makes sense—it does to me, but I'm weird.
