  • Second Game Crash?

Nintendo, once the company that saved gaming, is now facing backlash for filing patents that could let it claim ownership over common gameplay mechanics, sparking fears it could stifle creativity and harm both major studios and indie developers alike.

  • So… Doctor Who Just Regenerated Into Rose Tyler?

According to writer Robert Shearman, the 15th Doctor’s regeneration into Billie Piper has basically put a full stop on the entire Doctor Who story. That’s a wild way to end things if he’s right. After all these years, do you think this is a fitting way to close the loop or does it feel more like the show’s run out of ideas?

A note on how we want discussions to feel here

It’s pretty easy to get shouted down or censored on most big platforms these days. Posts disappear, people pile on, and it starts to feel like you can’t say what you actually think without starting a fight.

That’s not what we’re trying to do here.

This community should be a space where you can just say what you think, whether you loved something, hated it, or have an opinion that doesn’t match everyone else’s. Different takes are what make discussions interesting.

All we ask is to keep it respectful. Disagree all you want, just don’t turn it into a mess.

We’re really glad to have you all here. The mix of opinions, debates, and personalities is what makes Bounding Into Comics a special community and we can’t wait to see more of it.

That's all fine and dandy, but the commenting system has been reset multiple times with thousands of comments deleted, there has been a bunch of censored words which would shadow ban the post (and not even any of the spicy ones). At this point I don't think you are going to attract any normies with the "be respectful" policy.

This is all good in theory but BIC has a history of a trouble making poster that only makes posts to start fights, while many of us tried to defend ourselves or try to make our points clear. It usually resorted to our posts getting removed while this trouble maker is free to go on to start other fights. I have even quoted this posters comments that got my post removed with the troublemakers original post still there for the world to see. On top of the fact that this forum had quickly became the comment section of the BIC articles and now its not? What gives with that? With the mess that BIC has aloud to happen, I can't see too much traffic and much discussions happening here.

Totally get where you’re coming from, that frustration’s valid. The comment resets were from us testing out a new system and not meant to be censorship of any kind, and that ended up clearing a bunch of older posts.

We want this space to be somewhere you can actually say what’s on your mind without it getting buried or filtered. The goal isn’t to tone anyone down, just to keep things readable and open so people can actually talk.

As we roll out the new community, if you see something that feels off or gets in the way, shoot me a DM. We want everyone to feel like they’ve got a hand in shaping where this place goes

I get where you’re coming from as well and I know situations like that can leave a bad impression. We’re aware of how things have gone, and the goal now is to make sure everyone can take part in discussions without feeling like they’re being drowned out or dog-piled.

As for separating the forum from the article comments, that was intentional. We’d been testing the idea of using the forums for article discussions, but decided to revert back to the previous commenting system for now. It’s something we’d like to keep exploring, but for the moment, sticking with the existing system felt like the best option.

Racist and sexist comments should not be allowed. Not on any forum. Not in this day and age. The people who complain that their posts are deleted are usually the usual suspects who believe that they can say any racist and sexist comment and be allowed to get away with it. That is all! Of course their posts should be deleted. They should grow up and act like decent human beings. No forum should be used as a platform to peddle hate and racist ideology. That appeared to be the sole agenda of 95% of the people here, unfortunately!

Hey, totally get you wanting to wait and see, that’s completely fine. If you don’t mind, could you DM me a bit more info about the person you're referring to and I’ll take a look? We really do want people to be able to speak or give their opinions without getting harassed.

Yeh but we need an agreement on what "problematic" language looks like. I can tell you for sure that there is not consensus behind the scenes. At the end of the day filtering "hate speech" will absolutely result in the censorship of someones honest and well meaning comment. Sure, some scum will make it into the pool but a censorship filter will block any possibility of meaningful discussion.

We're all adults. We can handle mean names and opposing viewpoints like mature people. Right?

Will this community only ever be BIC staff inclusive or will it ever be open to the general public? It seems like everyone currently here can hold civilized conversations, but opening those public doors is when things get ugly.

People like to troll and say stupid things on purpose especially on the internet just to get a rise out of everyone. If the membership ever gets more public that is when you need stricter guidelines to follow with moderators to enforce them. Otherwise it will just be chaos.

Exactly, we’re not automatically filtering anything, and that’s kind of the point. There’s a lot of nuance in what people say, so we want real people contributing and, of course, real people running the site.

The hope is that we’re all adults and can handle things, but yeah, stuff gets heated sometimes. That’s why having some guidelines in place is helpful. It's not meant to be overbearing and the end all be all like it would be on more major social platforms, just a reminder that outright harassment or being rude to someone because you disagree isn’t acceptable. It’s not about censoring honest opinions, it’s about keeping the space usable for everyone.

The community is open to everyone! We're early days right now and appreciate everyone who joins, so you should continue to see new people around the site

I know I've never been around here much, as I have just registered, and even some other places on the Internet much, but I truly echo what the Original Poster intended. I hope to see this forums prosper without succumbing into chaos.

Bottom lines are - before we comment and respond, think, does it edify and not just simple modify, does it beautify and not just deny, and all these, without having tolerance compromised?

I think we can all agree that if we ever talk, we talk as if we are in a banquet celebrating our passions and premises.

I apologise if I sound rude and dogmatic, I am trying to build a proper internet personality, so,...I'm sorry.

Cheers!
