"House of the Dragon" season 5 is still on the cards, and it is all about "The Hour of the Wolf" for me!

1000502563.jpg

House of the Dragon was always set to end with season 4, but HBO's announcement yesterday just opened the doors for a fifth season, which is great. They were going to squeeze a huge amount of the events surrounding the climax of the Dance of the Dragons in Season 3 and 4, which was going to cause a rushed ending like what we saw in Game of Thrones.
While renewing for the fourth season, HBO clarified that they want the show to end naturally, and the only way this one ends naturally is with the Hour of the Wolf. Lord Stark crowning Rhaenyra's son won't just be a perfect conclusion, it will be a total revival of ASOIAF, especially after the messy conclusion of GOT ruined the franchise.

With "Task" renewed for season 2, is it time Mark Ruffalo forgot about the MCU?

1000502562.jpg

Task has been renewed for season 2 at HBO and I'm not surprised. The show was a surprise hit, hitting over 4 million live viewers and a total of 11 million at some point. These are numbers seen only at the highest level of TV, and I'm sure HBO just didn't expect it to be this good either. Robbie Pelphrey is the standout performer for me, although Mark Ruffalo's delivery of Agent Tom Brandis is also very convincing.
I think this is a career-reviving role for Ruffalo, especially with Hulk becoming less of a star in the MCU. Should he just call it time on Hulk and focus on a new phase of his career, because he hasn't delivered such great performances in the MCU lately either.

There is no point in going to the theater to watch "Wake Up Dead Man," is there?

Wake up Dead Man is probably the best Daniel Craig action film in the theaters this year, but they have totally ruined the release by making it available on Netflix just over a week after the film hits the theaters. The official poster says the film will be in theaters on Nov 26, and on Netflix on Dec 12, which is just sad for the those who already bought tickets. There is more than enough proof that releasing a film in the theater and on digital platforms concurrently hurts both sides of the film. Think of Marvel's Black Widow! If someone was hoping to catch the tickets and realizes they can stream it a week later, would they still do it? Surely there was a better way to handle this one.

So, only Paramount Skydance is interested in all of WB, and they could well win this one!

David Ellison is really flexing his financial muscle in Hollywood and it seems he will get WB as well. The rumors about his $71 billion bid being backed by the middle Eastern Sovereign funds is still hanging over him, but I don't think Netflix and Comcast can get anywhere near the amount he can raise.
Besides, WB shareholders will take whatever they can get at this moment. Netflix only wants the studios, and while Comcast can handle the cable networks, they would rather ship them off to Versant, so neither of the two seems like a reliable buyer for everything that WB is selling. The Paramount Skydance deal might not have the appeal of paying top dollar for the studios, but it is still very lucrative and it basically allows the shareholders to offload those pesky cable channels which are dragging the whole sale behind at this point.

Who else thinks Maui was way better in the animated version?

I've been looking at Disney's latest teaser for live-action Moana, and I think the music is great and the early visuals are catchy. However, Must doesn't look as good as the animated version. I'm not saying this is a make-or-break for Dwayne Johnson, but I think we need to have a serious discussion about his performance in films when it really matters. Honestly. I THOUGHT Black Adam was just a blip, but now it has become a trend! Maybe my opinion will change when the film comes out,

AMA with Rippaverse's Andrew Rodriguez On 11/26 @ 1pm EST

Hey everyone! We’ve got an AMA next week with Andrew Rodriguez, Creative Manager at Rippaverse 🎉

Rippaverse is an independent comic publisher building its own original universe: new characters, new stories, and a continuity that isn’t tied to the usual big-publisher baggage.

Andrew is a lifelong comic and video game fan, a heavy reader of fantasy and sci-fi, and someone who likes to dig deep into the worlds he follows. His background is in Business Management and Marketing, and he’s also trained in TV & Film. Most days you’ll find him at his PC with a coffee and a book nearby.

Bring your questions about the Rippaverse, the creative process, worldbuilding, characters, or anything else you’re curious about!

Letterboxd might soon become your go-to streaming service!

Letterboxd is launching its own film rental service that will allow members to watch their favorite films, especially the ones not being offered on streaming services.
This is what their post says "
At Letterboxd, our biggest mission is film discovery—but discovery is only half the battle. It’s frustrating to add a movie to your watchlist and then realize you can’t actually watch it! That’s why we’re trying something new and opening the doors to the Letterboxd Video Store, our own curated rental spot."

This is an opportunity to avoid high subscription costs and simply watch the film you want, and for fans of classic films, I think this will be the ideal video store especially when looking for season-themed classics. Availability and pricing might change depending on the member's location, of course, but I think most underrated 80s and 90s classics will now be available.

Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Idina Menzel set to receive $60 million each for Frozen 3&4!

1000501872.jpg
Frozen is Disney's most valuable animated franchise, with the first two films jointly grossing $2.7 billion. Anna, Elsa, and Olaf are still the pillars of the film, and with Frozen 3 alone expected to bring in nearly $2 billion, I totally understand the premium packages the trio is receiving. However, $60 million for an animated film is unprecedented, I mean, that is practically half the budget of a feature-length live-action film!
With such payouts, I won't be surprised if Frozen 3 becomes the most expensive animated series ever made. And, as usual, Disney will make up for any shortage by bumping Disney+ prices.

Here is the chance to visit Disney World on the cheap! But the experience will never be the same again.

1000501854.jpg

As everyone waits for Disney to open the Avengers Infinity Defense, this news is bound to impress lots ofvAmericans who couldn't otherwise afford Disney tickets. So Disney will adopt dynamic pricing, charging less in low season and higher in high season just like airlines.
However, this raises some major concerns, main one being that some people might be priced out of tickets because Disney will obviously milk the high season for every penny they can squeeze out of people.
With charges increasing for customized guided tours and other premium in-park services that are being introduced, I'm also worried that middle-class buyers (Disneyland's couch class) will have a terrible experience as the company tries to get them to buy pricier packages. We've seen it with Airlines already so why will it be any different here.

It seems in Jumanji 4, the characters join the real world!

The first images are out as Jumanji 4 goes into production, and the premise sounds interesting. Apparently, the characters now join the real world. Now, this could only mean that something really serious is going on in Jumanji, if it is still there at all. I'd really love to see where they go with this angle, but this sounds like the most explosive plot they have come up with yet.
Unfortunately, I'm still worried about the film having all the hype, especially because of the stars on board, and then churning out a mediocre end product that doesn't meet expectations.

Producers United is up in arms, and somehow, I never knew producers were suffering this much!

I used to see film producers as the privileged bag men and women of production, but this demand by Producers United has changed my view on the matter. With fewer films being produced and big studios seeing producers as "menial labor," Hollywood runs the risk of alienating this important aspect of production and rendering some of the industry's brightest minds jobless.
The new rules set by the organization might not really help much since many big studios don't even recognize Producers United since they are not a labor union, unlike writers, actors, and directors. So, is it high time the role of a producer was redefined? Because at this rate, despite being seen as the responsible party for the final product, they just don't get the credit they deserve anymore.

Pokémon Park admission rules could never fly in America!

Login to view embedded media So, according to the rules, to access Pokepark Kanto, one must be fit enough to climb 110 stairs unassisted. Now, I've seen fit individuals struggle to climb fewer steps than that, so this sounds like a tough rule to impose on a population that loves your franchise. Besides, what about parents and guardians of advanced age, or children with disability? I do understand that admitting physically fit individuals reduces liability for the park, but this sounds like discrimination to me.

I hope the exit of Vice doesn't ruin Gangs of London!

1000501645.jpg

Gangs of London may have received renewal for season 4 but now we have something to really worry about. Pulsèfilms, which has been the production company behind the show since Season 1, has left the project due to restructuring at its parent company. The show will now be overseen by the Vice LA offices, so it will not be in the UK anymore. This is a major shift that could affect the production of the fourth season. However, I'm hopeful that the show retains its consistently explosive scripts with a lot of creativity and originality because it is one of the best shows ever based on a video game in my opinion.

Just how wild can Gamestop's "Trade in anything day" get?

This is absolutely wild!
In the latest news, GameStop has announced December 6th, 2025, as their "Trade In Anything Day," so everyone can literally walk into the store with any item that can fit into a box and walk out with store credit. Of course, there are a couple of exemptions, such as dead or living animals, guns and ammo, toxic waste, and the like, but I don't think they have exempted nearly enough items. It is also unclear how the valuation will happen. I'm still waiting for chaos to unfold because I can't rule out gamers showing up with the most shocking personal items imaginable!

Previously on.... as we knew it, will never be the same again thanks to AI!

1000501581.jpg
Previously on.... was actually one of the most important aspects of a show for me while growingup, and still is,, but Amazon's latest AI-upgrade is about to change that. The feature is still on trial, but THR reports that AI will now build a quick summary of important plot points from past episodes to give viewers a glimpse of what to expect. I have a feeling that what AI considers important could not be what we are used to.
I understand, this is not necessarily a bad thing, but it sure is going to replace an important feature of series as we know them. For traditional users, it might actually be disappointing knowing that the intro is just an AI deciding what was important in the previous episode.

Saudi Arabia pumps $900 Million into Luma AI, but somehow, it doesn't feel like an investment in Hollywood!

With so much Saudi money to go around, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood got a big boost. However, the Saudis have instead chosen to invest in the most hated branch of Hollywood. Luma AI CEO was seated alongside the CEO of Particle 6 when they announced the controversial AI actress Tilly Norwood was getting a talent agent in Hollywood.
The Luma CEO said they were working with multiple studios in Hollywood, but undercover. At that time, the total investment in Luma wasn't anywhere above $100 million. Now imagine what they can do with $900 million and access to some of the world's largest data centers! This could see Luma AI build 1000+ Tilly Norwoods, which is catastrophic for the industry.

DC/MARVEL KISS AND MAKE UP PT.2: 'Batman/Deadpool' is HERE

DC and Marvel finally fixed all the damage done by Joe Quesada (when he was Marvel EIC in the 2000s, he kind of took the 'friendly rivalry' too seriously and treated DC as a business rival instead of a friend) and started publishing crossovers again!

Earlier this year, we got Deadpool/Batman, an anthology series with a bunch of stories from a number of Marvel's '''top''' creators, the main story being written by Zeb Wells (hence the quotation marks) and drawn by Greg Capullo.

Today, we get DC's effort, Batman/Deadpool. I won't bore everyone with the details, but the main story is written by Grant Morrison and drawn by Dan Mora - which personally, is like, the most perfect combo I could have ever asked for.

So, anyone else interested in what's inside? I'll probably be back with highlights after I read it.

But untiol then, I might as well share a few of the many, many variant covers I already know I'm going to be suckered into buying:

Is console gaming coming to an end?!

1000501103.jpg
Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take Two has raised an important issue in an interview with CNBC. He said that the future of gaming is on PC which has left me wondering, are consoles unsustainable?
The price of consoles has kept rising, with the demand for better hardware pushing old consoles out of favor before users get value for their money. Besides, having the best console doesn't exactly mean access to all the best games, unlike on PC where options are almost unlimited. So, could consoles be out of the market soon?

I just don't see the world in which Kevin Costner passes for Bill Clinton! Side note: Does Monica Lewinsky come too?

So Kevin Costner has decided to go all political, playing Bill Clinton on a mission to East Timor in 1999 in an upcoming series. I personally think Costner should stick to Westerns, but after the failure of Horizon, I have no problem with him taking this role. The only problem here, and I think many people see it too, is that Costner just doesn't come off as the rigt person to play Bill Clinton.
Besides, we are talking actual political drama here, and I just can't see them avoiding the Lewinsky angle on this one. I'm still eager to see what they come up with, though because it sounds interesting.

Dispatch shows game developers that replacing voice actors with AI is not exactly a creative solution!

Replacing humans with AI is now everyone's concern and gaming has been hit really hard. As fans descend on Arc Raiders for doing exactly that, Dispatch's Nick Herman and Michael Choung have had some harsh words for studios replacing people with AI. Choung was especially correct when he said studios are super-quick to embrace technology once it hits the "good enough" rating which is just wrong because that way, creativity is totally removed from the development process.
Herman said "AI feels like a production solution, not a creative one. Maybe it's a creative one if you aren't creative." Choung was equally livid with studios trying to replace the human touch. He said "We're not getting up every morning and talking to ourselves like, 'hey, what if we did this with less people? What's the lowest number of people we can use to make this thing?' This is like not nothing that we're too concerned with,"

The Goonies 2 is actually coming, but is it really necessary?

1000501094.jpg

I understand that in Hollywood, a good film must have a sequel, but then, some things are better off left the way they were created, and I think that is the case with The Goonies. According to Ke Huy Quan, Chris Columbus, and Steven Spielberg have had a script accepted, so a film could be released really soon.

I do understand the wealth of talent on board here, but then, it has been 40 years of roses and The Goonies has earned this legendary status as one of the best films ever created. Is it not wise to just accept it as a one-time masterpiece that shaped the industry and let it rest?

$71 Billion sounds fair, but Ellison in bed with the Middle East for WB would stink worse than a fart in Church!

Paramount Skydance has been quick to deny Variety's story about David Ellison teaming up with three Middle Eastern wealth funds to fund their $71 billion bid for WB, and I totally understand. Keeping WB intact for that amount is a bargain that most people would take, but then that partnership would really hurt Paramount's reputation. Ellison has been doing his best to front Paramount as the America-first media company, so taking $21 billion to give a share of WB wouldn't nearly tie into that narrative. Trump may have secured $1 trillion in Saudi investment, but don't be fooled, not everyone would gladly hand them Superman, even at that price!

Twisted Metal renewed for Season 3, Are we in the golden age of Video-Game based TV?

Login to view embedded media So Peacock has done the needful and I don't think anyone expected Twisted Metal to be canceled after the run it has had. However, I'm concerned that the story may become too stereotypical in the third season as creativity wanes. After Fallout, I think Twisted Metal and Gangs of London are the gold of video-game-based shows, and I think more are still to come.
