Clowns are now the go-to villains of horror films it seems. I actually loved Amy Madigan's delivery of Gladys. If you haven't watched it, Madigan plays some deranged witch that uses spells on children to maintain her youth, having kidnapped 17 kids from the same elementary school class for that purpose in Weapons. Apparently, she was so committed to the character that she wouldn't let a stuntwoman run for her on set, you know, that horrific final scene where the kids chase down Gladys and tear her into pieces.
The film's creator, Zach Cregger is now working on a sequel centered on Gladys, possibly exploring her origins and the root of her becoming evil, you know, just like Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein. I think Weapons was a huge win for Indies in 2025 and I would definitely watch this prequel.

Yeah, Weapons really caught me off guard, I wasn’t expecting it to go that hard. Madigan absolutely owned that role and I’d be all for a prequel. It’s been a while since an indie horror stuck with me like that.
