The Goonies 2 is actually coming, but is it really necessary?

I understand that in Hollywood, a good film must have a sequel, but then, some things are better off left the way they were created, and I think that is the case with The Goonies. According to Ke Huy Quan, Chris Columbus, and Steven Spielberg have had a script accepted, so a film could be released really soon.

I do understand the wealth of talent on board here, but then, it has been 40 years of roses and The Goonies has earned this legendary status as one of the best films ever created. Is it not wise to just accept it as a one-time masterpiece that shaped the industry and let it rest?
