If you want a real measuring tool, look at the indie games solely created by men or women. Indie game studios are usually so small that DEI is not enforced, neither is nepotism. Asking perplexity for the most copys sold of single gender developed games, for male creators only we have:

Minecraft - >350mil copys sold
Stardew Valley - >41mil
Holiness Miami - >3mil
Super Meat Boy - >1.5mil
Braid - >1mil

For female creators only the best the AI could come up with is

Super Lesbian Animal RPG - 50k - 100k units sold.
