Someone here Thinks James Gunn should avoid Darkseid in the DCU

Zack Snyder failed to accompany his ideas with proper scripts, but having Darkseid as the Ultimate big bad of the DCEU was a great idea.
James Gunn is good at utilizing otherwise overlooked DC characters like Bloodsport and giving them big stories, but they can only build a universe when fighting a credible threat. No villain, no story, that is the basics, and there is no way we are going to sit around for five films/shows every year without knowing who we are all supposed to fear.

Here's the thing; I think you can do Darkseid, but he's gotta be either the cinematic universe's finale, or you have an appropriate big bad threat to follow up on him with.

If he dies, he dies. Then you could say his death kicks off things like Blackest Night, or WW3, or whathave you.

And if whomever is at the helm is REALLY good at what they do, they'll could even do Darkseid again as the END of the DCU too. New Gods, death, rebirth, all that fun stuff.

I see the vision.

Totally get it. But at the end of the day, we need a big bad and a real major event that raises the stakes of the whole story right?

Yeah totally, say what you will about Snyder, but at least Darkseid made the stakes feel huge. Gunn’s doing cool stuff, but it still feels like we’re missing that main villain holding everything together.
They've just cast Brainiac for Man of Tomorrow, so it feels a lot more precarious for Superman, especially after the latest upgrade of the villain in the Absolute Universe, but I still want Darkseid in the final battle
