‘The Batman Part II’ To Start Filming In Spring; WBD CEO David Zaslav Confirms James Gunn Writing Next Movie In “Super Family”

The Batman Part II will finally start filming in the coming moments as the long-awaited Matt Reeves DC sequel ramps up pre-production.

WB CEO David Zaslav has laid out the company's plans for the DCU, and it seems Batman Part 2 is the next big thing from DC. Zaslav announced the film will start filming next Spring, but won't be released until October 2027. The sad part is, the film will still be released ahead of Man of Tomorrow. James Gunn's DCU is also unlikely to have received a new Batman by then, hence my question: Is it time to simply embrace Batverse as part of the DCU?
As things stand, Robert Pattinson is one of the best-written Batman characters we have seen in a while, not to mention the popularity of Collin Farrell's The Penguin. Surely it serves no purpose to write a whole new Batman at this point!

Yeah, I’m with you, Pattinson has been incredible as Batman. He really fits the tone perfectly. At this point, I’d rather they build around what he’s already done instead of rebooting yet another version.

The Batman – Part II: A New Report Offers Production Update on Matt Reeves’ Sequel

Principal photography is expected to begin in January 2026.

The film is going into pre-production yet we know very little about the plot and the cast which is a little bit strange. Matt Reeves has turned Batverse into a masterpiece though and I really hope it can marry into the DC Universe to become something really special
