Dan Trachtenberg received a level of freedom that Disney doesn't give most directors when it came to creating Predator: Badlands. The move has rescued Disney's year at the box office as the film has earned over $37 million in its opening weekend, the highest in the franchise's history. The success is the exact opposite on Tron Ares which won't even bring back its $105 million budget.
