Paramount+ set for a price increase, but this one actually makes sense!

Recently, everyone was angry with Disney when they announced price hikes from $79.99 to $159.99 for some subscribers because they hadn't added the content to justify the increase. Paramount+ seems to be eyeing Disney's disgruntled customers because they are also making a price increase, but theirs is by $1 a month for both the ad-supported and ad-free tiers.
David Ellisson has said that full access to UFC games is the main justification for the increase, and I actually understand, because they paid $7.7 billion for it. This minor increase is unlikely to make Paramount+ profitable, but they have already seen a 25% increase in subscriptions which is a step in the right direction.

Yeah, a $1 increase doesn’t sound too bad, especially compared to what Disney just pulled. If the UFC deal actually brings more value and fresh content, I can see why they’d make the move. At least it feels like there’s a reason behind it this time and not just an obvious money grab

I definitely miss the way streaming was 10+ years ago. I remember being able to find most things that I wanted to watch on Netflix just because there were few, if any, other options. If only we could go back to the days were I didn't need to have 5 different subscriptions 😂

Unfortunately, we are never going back there. Unless everything goes back to cable of course. Either way, we should brace for more expensive subscriptions soon. However, we are definitely going back to fewer streaming platforms with more content thanks to these mergers
