I rewatched The Dark Knight Returns a couple of weeks ago. I mostly had the same issues I've always had with it. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Robin revelation feels incredibly rushed. Talia's death is very poorly acted. Bruce ending up with Selina has no chemistry whatsoever. She's stealing from him one minute while openly admitting she'll never be the person he expects her to be, but then saves him the next and ends up with Bruce at the end. And the whole Batman can be anyone willing to put on the mask aspect is muddled at best. I never really care for the superhero revealing their secret identity in a film or taking off their mask at every opportunity. There's some decent moments in the film, but most of it feels like they were scrambling to make something somewhat coherent.
