I have a novel idea. Make it meta and James Cameron is the central character. In the future AI takes over similar to Skynet. Future scientists can't send back physical matter, but they can send back dreams and thoughts. They send dreams to James about the idea for the Terminator franchise as a way to warn humanity about the future uprising. It would be a crazy film with Terminator robot fight scenes on the sets of Cameron's most iconic films from Aliens to Titanic.
