It might take some time, but Alita 2 is coming, and 3 is not off the table!

According to James Cameron, Alita has never left his mind despite his busy schedule. “Robert Rodriguez and I have sworn a blood oath to do at least one more Alita movie. In fact, we’re thinking of an architecture that bridges to a third film, but we’ll be satisfied if we can make one more. And we’re making progress on that,” he told Empire Online.
With Avatar: Fire and Ash almost done, I'd be thrilled if Cameron picked up Alita once again because it was such a great film, and I don't think the first film explores nearly enough of that universe.

Cameron saying Alita has never left his mind makes me weirdly hopeful. You can tell he actually loves that world, and it always felt like the first movie was just the intro to something way bigger.

If he really does jump back into it once the new Avatar wraps up, I’d be all over that. Alita definitely deserved more than one film.

I 100% believe that. At least I know that with him taking control of the movie it'll have the level of care needed to do the story justice
Absolutely. The film is in safe hands. However, Cameron has too many projects, so while I'm sure Rodriguez would be up for it, I could see Cameron's workload pushing Alita 2 back another 6 six years or so. I hope it comes to fruition at some point all the same.
