What's the first RPG that You Played, and how Did You feel About it

Super Mario RPG would be the one. I wouldn't be really into RPGs tho until I played Tactics Ogre on the PSX. From that point on I refused to play games that had no substance in it (AKA I stopped playing sports games LOL)
Lol

And yes, Tactics Ogre is a timeless masterpiece that embodies what makes the genre RPG and TTRPG so profound. Its brilliance lies in how it balances deep strategy, emotional storytelling, and moral complexity into one unforgettable experience. But I still prefer Final Fantasy Tactics though but I liked them both!

First one I actually played was Mass Effect, that’s game really got me into RPGs
I can totally see that. Mass Effect so inspiring, it connects the player to a grand narrative without losing its humanity. Beneath the spaceships and alien worlds lies a story about trust, sacrifice, and understanding - things that resonate far beyond the screen. It’s the kind of game that reminds you why stories matter - because they can make you feel, think, and dream all at once.

Kingdom Hearts 2. It changed the way i see video games. My brother and I appreciated video games on another level when we first completed it as kids.

Technically pokemon yellow was the first but i never finished it. Probably only ever beat a couple gym leaders.

I think my first ever overall RPG was Pokemon Red, which I picked up at an EB Games (Remember those? Canada still has them, but Gamestop took them over here in the US) like, on launch week because I simply liked the "cool red dragon" on the cover (Charizard).

For a more proper one, probably the OG Final Fantasy VII, which came out roughly around the same time but I picked up a few years later when I eventually got a PS1.

KH2 remains a top GOAT of All Time. I love that series so damn much.

Hi, friends. What was the first RPG that you played? Mine was, I can't recall was it Final Fantasy 2, Final Fantasy 1 or Pokemon Blue.
It was splendid
Oddly enough, it was FFVII, a friend brought a playstation to our place and I played it for a while, but we didn't have memory cards so we couldn't save. After that I started to look for Snes jrpgs roms for emulation, since I didn't have a playstation and jrpgs snes cartridges didn't come to Brazil, legally.

FFVII is quite the way to start - talk about diving in at the deep end. I remember those emulation days too; we all had to get a little creative back then. It’s cool how you went the extra mile just to keep playing. Once you catch the JRPG bug, there’s really no going back.

It took some years until I could afford a ps1, with my own money. I even forgot about FFVII in the meanwhile. With the roms I found gems I would never know existed, like Breath of Fire franchise, Lufia 2, Chrono Trigger, FF 1through 6, Ogre Battle(hard AF), Saylor Moon, even Gameboy's Pokémon yellow. By the time I bought a ps1, used, my first jrpg on it was FFIX.

Oh friend, don't get me started, you echoed me! FFIX, FFVIII, Pokemon Yellow, Golden Sun and Suikoden are some of most favourite RPG's of all time!

Man, I was fortunate to grow up in those emulator days too! As soon as I learned the wonders of ZSNES, it was off to the races - Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire series, and of course (what I consider to be) the most pure perfect RPG of all time FF6.

ANOTHER GOLDEN SUN FAN! Man, why won't they AT LEAST give us a collection? I can't believe the last bit of love the series got was Isaac as an assist trophy in Smash.

Right? Golden Sun deserves way more love! I’ve only played the first two - Golden Sun and The Lost Age - but not the third one. I’ve heard mixed things about Dark Dawn, so I never got around to it. Still, those first two were pure magic - the puzzles, the music, the Djinn system - they hit me right in the nostalgia. It’s one of those series that really deserves to rise from the ashes.

Dark Dawn was...It's genuinely just fine. It was nice to have more Golden Sun, but it ultimately just felt like "Oh, okay, that was a thing."

I never understand why Nintendo lets so many of their franchises fall to the way side; they have zillions of dollars! A bunch of employees! You can take some devs off of the billionth Mario Kart iteration and give us, I dunno, even just an eShop digital title! COME ON!!!!

And man, like I remember playing this for the first time on the GBA and these graphics just BLEW my mind.
