  • Second Game Crash?

Nintendo, once the company that saved gaming, is now facing backlash for filing patents that could let it claim ownership over common gameplay mechanics, sparking fears it could stifle creativity and harm both major studios and indie developers alike.

  • So… Doctor Who Just Regenerated Into Rose Tyler?

According to writer Robert Shearman, the 15th Doctor’s regeneration into Billie Piper has basically put a full stop on the entire Doctor Who story. That’s a wild way to end things if he’s right. After all these years, do you think this is a fitting way to close the loop or does it feel more like the show’s run out of ideas?

We talk a lot about comics here, but the world of collectibles and toys is just as much a part of fandom. Between action figures, statues, Funko Pops, high-end imports, and retro lines making a comeback, there’s a ton out there competing for shelf space.

So what’s catching your eye right now? Are you chasing vintage pieces, sticking with current toy lines, or going for premium statues? And on the flip side what stuff do you think is all hype and not worth the cash?

Honestly, I’ve been leaning more toward retro stuff lately, there’s just something about tracking down older pieces that feels more satisfying than grabbing whatever new Funko is on the shelf. The premium statues look amazing, but the prices are absolutely insane

I totally get that, there’s something really satisfying about hunting down retro pieces. It’s like a little treasure hunt. I’ve looked at some of the premium statues too, and yeah… the detail is insane, but the prices make me do a hard pass. I usually stick to the older stuff or current lines that won’t break the bank.

Yeah, same here. The high-end stuff looks incredible, but once you’re talking hundreds (or thousands) for a single piece, it stops feeling fun and starts feeling stressful 😅 The retro hunt has way more personality to it, every find has a story. Plus, some of those older figures just feel better made than a lot of the new mass-produced stuff.

I have a hard time spending over $100 on a figure even if it’s something I really want. The SH Figurarts line is a fun one, but can get pricey. Grandista is good for statues too.

If you have any Ross stores near you they’re worth digging through. You can find some decent priced stuff there. I would still price check stuff with Amazon and eBay though. Or any other online retailers you may frequent like Big Bad Toy Store.
