  • Second Game Crash?

Nintendo, once the company that saved gaming, is now facing backlash for filing patents that could let it claim ownership over common gameplay mechanics, sparking fears it could stifle creativity and harm both major studios and indie developers alike.

  • So… Doctor Who Just Regenerated Into Rose Tyler?

According to writer Robert Shearman, the 15th Doctor’s regeneration into Billie Piper has basically put a full stop on the entire Doctor Who story. That’s a wild way to end things if he’s right. After all these years, do you think this is a fitting way to close the loop or does it feel more like the show’s run out of ideas?

Among many things in todays economy, the price of comics has bitten some consumers too hard. The cost to produce these things, of course, drives up the cost to the comic fan who wants to buy that product. So would it be so bad, if comics embraced some of what works for manga, and go black and white on newsprint for a while?

Yeah, they started in color for sure, but prices were way lower back then. I wonder if fans today would go for black-and-white if it made comics cheaper
I doubt it. I think it's really more about the quality of the content itself. And I don't think Western comics should become manga. I think there's more of a case to switch back to newsprint. Though I disagree with it because I like the higher quality paper. But at least that has precedence.

Yeah I get that, content quality is definitely king. Still, it’s interesting how format and paper choices can shape the whole reading experience. Sometimes I wonder if nostalgia for older printing styles could actually make some readers more forgiving about black-and-white or newsprint.
