Is Landman Season 2 at risk of becoming more of a family story rather than a tale about Oil and America?

So, Billy Bob Thornton and the rest of the Landman cast have been speaking ahead of the show's Season 2 Premiere, and while I'm excited about the show itself, I'm worried about the direction it is taking. Everyone is talking about how Tommy and Angela's family is the central theme. Don't get me wrong, I love Tommy's family and how it directs the story, but I think Landman should always be a story about Texas oil and America just like Boomtown, the podcast on which the show is based.
Taylor Sheridan made the mistake of deviating too far from the main storyline in some seasons of Yellowstone, and I really hope they don't make the same mistake here. I want to see every character stay relevant and the brutal reality of the impact of fracking in the Permian basin on display, not a soap opera!

I’m excited for Season 2 too but all this talk about the family being the focus has me a little nervous. If they lean too hard into the family angle it could end up feeling like any other drama instead of the tough, wide-scope story it started as. I’m hoping they keep that bigger picture front and center and let the family stuff support it, not replace it.
