Is Shogun already one of the greatest TV shows ever made?

Shogun Season 2 will resume filming in Vancouver in January 2026, setting it up for release later in the year or early 2027. The best part is that the whole team is intact, with Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis both returning to lead the line. I believe the second season will put up the best display og Yoshi Toranaga's political masterplan, and I really can't wait to see Sanada bring it to life.
Meanwhile, if season 2 is as big a hit as the first season, does Shogun instantly become one of the greatest historical TV shows of all time? Currently, I can't think of an Asian TV show that gained such a big following in Western markets.

Season 2 kicking off with the full cast back is a great sign. If they deliver at the same level as Season 1, then yeah Shogun’s easily in the “best historical TV ever” conversation to me

I believe Sanada and Jarvis are both returning. There haven't been any majoe exits either, so the show is pretty much intact. I really give it to them for the authenticity of their period setting. Nothing falls out of place like you see in video games
