How do comic adaptations hold up on TV?

Some shows stick closely to the source material, others take big liberties. Which ones do you think work and which miss the mark?

I think they hold up well. Shows like The Boys and Invincible prove TV lets stories develop in ways movies can’t. Some drag things out too much, but when the writing respects the source, the format really works.

Tv's great if the source material is respected, until viewership drops and the the ending has to be rushed or any other reason producers have to come up with their own story that has nothing to do with the comics, and then you end up with Smallville Season 10

Oof completely agree with that. In my mind, at least in recent memory, nothing screams rushed ending like Game of Thrones. I usually love rewatching shows, but I can't bring myself to rewatch that one because I know the ending is so bad. The entire last season was very disappointing

Benioff and Weiss absolutely blew that one. I personally don't blame them much for it, though, because technically they had no source material, seeing as George R. R. Martin hasn't given us Winds of Winter yet. I'd give anything to watch the first five seasons of GOT for the first time, though.
